Novelty Grenade Causes Evacuation of David Petraeus’ Office
In what can only be described as a really bad idea, a friend of General David Petraeus mailed a fake grenade to his office in the Solow Building on 58th Street.
Unfortunately, Petraeus’ secretary was the one to open the package this afternoon and—after seeing what she thought was a real grenade—called the NYPD.
The building was evacuated and 58th Street was shut down between 5th and 6th Avenues. It was only after the package was investigated in the building’s courtyard that it was determined to be a “novelty item.”
According to NY1, it’s unclear if Petraeus was in the building at the time.
