In a stunningly straight-forward confessional video posted this morning to YouTube, popular British Olympian Tom Daley "put an end to all the rumours and speculation" by revealing that he has been dating a man for the past several months.

"I've been dating girls and I've never really had a serious relationship to talk about and now I feel ready to talk about my relationships," the 19-year-old bronze medalist told his fans. "Come spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone and it made me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great. And, well, that someone is a guy."

Daley says he felt the need to record the video because his words had been "twisted" by The Daily Mirror, which reported this September that Daley was "not gay."

"In an ideal world I wouldn’t be doing this video, because it shouldn’t matter," Daley said. "But recently I was misquoted in an interview and it made me feel really angry and frustrated – emotions that I’ve never felt before when reading something about myself."

Daley notes in the video that "I still fancy girls," adding, "but right now I’m dating a guy and I couldn’t be happier."
