Police Shoot and Kill Man in North St. Louis
Police reportedly shot and killed a man armed with a knife earlier today in north St. Louis. The suspect, identified as a 23-year-old black man, reportedly threatened a store owner before attempting to attack responding officers.
12:20 p.m.: officers responded to call, says @ChiefSLMPD. Man walked out with drinks. Returned, took pastries. Suspect left again.

.@ChiefSLMPD said suspect turned toward officers, pulled out a knife in an "overhand grip" and told officers to "shoot me now, kill me now."

Officers drew weapons when knife was pulled, @ChiefSLMPD says. Suspect was within 3-4 feet of the officers, struck at them. Officers fired.

The shooting took place just four miles Ferguson, Mo., where protests over the police killing of unarmed teen Michael Brown have entered their tenth day.
