At around 1:15 a.m. today, Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority police officers opened fire on a Hummer driving on the Verrazano Bridge. There were no injuries, and the driver fled on foot.

NBC reports that the driver ignored police requests to stop after blowing through a toll plaza on the Staten Island side of the bridge. According to CBS, the car may have been stolen at gunpoint. A passenger was detained, and police are searching for the driver. Several lanes of the bridge that closed after the incident have since reopened.
