Sources tell the CBS affiliate in Richmond, Va. that Jesse Matthew Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham. Graham went missing after attending an off-campus party Sept. 13; her body was found on an abandoned property a month later.

According to WVIR, the Albemarle County Police Department and the Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney will make a formal announcement of the charge later this morning at a press conference. Matthew is currently imprisoned in Fairfax County, Va. after being indicted on separate attempted murder and sexual assault charges from a 2005 rape case, and he's been entangled in multiple sexual assault allegations in the past.

Matthew was previously charged with abduction with intent to defile for Graham's disappearance. Her body was found about fives miles from where the body of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington was discovered in 2009—Matthew has been forensically linked to her death as well.
