Ryan easily scooped up the seat with 236 votes; Republican Kevin McCarthy got 9, Nancy Pelosi got 184 and Jim Cooper, Colin Powell and John Lewis all got one vote each. (Balloon Boy, sadly, did not receive any votes.)
Republicans hope the representative from Wisconsin will help calm the chaotic party—an admirable aspiration, to be sure.
