Freshman Congressman Trey Radel, the Jason Sudeikis-lookin' dude who represents Florida's 19th district, was charged for cocaine possession in Washington, D.C., last month, according to Politico.

The 37-year-old Radel, a Republican who once said he fancies himself an "old school hip hop" expert, was charged with misdemeanor possession of cocaine in D.C. Superior Court today after being caught purchasing the drug from an undercover officer on October 29. The congressman is slated to appear in court tomorrow.

This is not the first time Radel's vices have proved embarrassing for him. In June of last year it was revealed that the conservative's now-defunct media company, Trey Enterprises, had registered a series of sex-themed website domains. Reported Mother Jones, "Among them is cojible.com, a slang term defined by Urban Dictionary as 'a woman who doesn't look good, but is good enough to sleep with.' There was also casadelasputas.com (whorehouse), mamadita.com (little blow job), chicasderio.com (girls of Rio). And in English: sexguideonline.com."

Update #5: The AP reports that Radel allegedly purchased the coke from an undercover DEA agent in D.C.'s Dupont Circle neighborhood. Later that night, authorities came to Radel's home to let him know he'd be charged

Update #4: A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office says Radel was merely charged with possessing cocaine; he was never arrested for the crime as was previously reported.

Update #3: Politico is reporting that the FBI and DEA were involved with Radel's arrest.

Update #2: Trey Radel's charging document:

Update: Radel has released a statement in which he apologizes for his actions and calls himself an alcoholic:

I'm profoundly sorry to let down my family, particularly my wife and son, and the people of Southwest Florida. I struggle with the disease of alcoholism, and this led to an extremely irresponsible choice. As the father of a young son and a husband to a loving wife, I need to get help so I can be a better man for both of them.

In facing this charge, I realize the disappointment my family, friends and constituents must feel. Believe me, I am disappointed in myself, and I stand ready to face the consequences of my actions.

However, this unfortunate event does have a positive side. It offers me an opportunity to seek treatment and counseling. I know I have a problem and will do whatever is necessary to overcome it, hopefully setting an example for others struggling with this disease.

Please keep my family in your prayers.
