Rob Ford Diagnosed With "Rare, Aggressive" Cancer in Abdomen
Dr. Zane Cohen of Toronto's Mount Sinai hospital announced today that mayor Rob Ford has a form of cancer called pleomorphic liposarcoma and a "rare" and "difficult" tumor in his abdomen. Cohen maintained that he was optimistic about treatment.
Cohen said that the tumor, which measures 12 by 12 centimeters, is not affecting any of Ford's major organs, the Globe and Mail reports. Doctors also found a second growth on Ford's buttocks.
According to CP24, Ford will begin chemotherapy in the next 48 hours.
"I think he is a pretty strong person," Dr. Cohen says of Rob Ford. "Difficult to say how chemo will affect him."

Last week, Ford withdrew from the city's upcoming mayoral election, and his brother Doug announced he would run in his place.
