Sandlot Star's Arrest for Headbutting Cop Yields Terrifying Mug Shot
The former child actor best (or, rather, only) known for his starring role as Scott "Scotty" Smalls in the classic coming-of-age film The Sandlot was reportedly arrested last weekend for headbutting a police officer.
Tom Guiry was preparing to board a United Airlines flight out of Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport when he was deemed "too drunk to fly," according to TMZ.
Airport police were called in to take Guiry into custody, but the actor refused to budge, becoming "belligerent and verbally abusive" toward the responding officer.
According to AceShowBiz, Guiry was given the option of an arrest for public intoxication or a night in the drunk tank.
Picking neither, Guiry instead tried to kick the officer in the face before settling on a headbutt.
The 31-year-old New Jersey native was subsequently arrested and booked on a charge of felony assault on a police officer.
He was later released on his own recognizance after posting a $5,000 bond.
Guiry was "noticeably absent" two weeks ago when other Sandlot alums reunited to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary.
