Sean Sasser, who dated The Real World: San Francisco's Pedro Zamora and married him on the show, has died of mesothelioma at age 44. Sasser shared his life and HIV status (he was positive) with the world all the way back in 1994. He was truly courageous.

Still to this day Pedro and Sean were one of the best representations on being Gay ever to grace the TV screen. It's a shame how far Real World came from being a learning tool, to a Tits and Ass show.

"The Real World," by nature, cannot actually portray the real world. The Observer Effect essentially eliminates this as a possibility. The only way to get an even remotely accurate portrayal of people really living their lives and actually being themselves would be to film them secretly, without their knowledge.

Did he work with a lot of Asbestos? I realize AIDs ravages the immune system, but I have never heard of anyone getting mesothelioma unless they were knee deep in asbestos.

My aunt died of mesothelioma at 55 and had never worked around asbestos. In rare cases, it can strike randomly.

Sorry to hear that. Commercials for ambulance chasers have led me to believe that if you have ever taken a breath within a mile of an industrial facility, insulation from the 50s, or tile/flooring from the 50-70s that you are in trouble as that sounds like the only cause I had ever heard about.
