In the latest stage of Shaquille O'Neal's career transition from beloved NBA big man to character in a Shaquille O'Neal film, the former center applied to become a reserve police officer in Doral, Florida last week. Preparing for an upcoming role in Kazaam 2: Crime Wizard, is he?

According to Doral's city spokeswoman, Shaq will receive no special treatment. From the Miami Herald:

The 7-foot-1 O'Neal is still going through the application process as well as a background check, city spokeswoman Christina Baguer said.

"If he passes, he will then have to do everything else to be certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, just like any of our other officers, reserve or not reserve," Baguer said.

The State Officer Certification Exam includes a series of physical and psychological tests.

Somehow, this isn't even the first time Shaq has dipped his enormous toes into law enforcement: he was sworn in as Miami Beach reserve police officer in 2005 (earning just $1 a year), the Herald reports, but no longer works with that department.
