Spanish Prince to Ascend to the Throne with Standing-Room Only Tapas
Times are tough out there for the Spanish monarchy. In a country where the unemployment rate is an overwhelming 25%, Crown Prince Felipe's ascension to the throne, which happens at midnight tonight, will have guests eating only small snacks with nowhere to sit.
King Juan Carlos announced this month that he'd be renouncing the throne, with plans for his son to take over. According to the Associated Press, Prince Felipe is the more popular of the two anyway, but maybe not for long after this standing-room only tapas horseshit. King Carlos had received criticism for his perceived deliberate ignorance of the financial turmoil that had taken hold over his country.
The Spanish government is also expected to change its constitution in order to guarantee that Prince Felipe's daughter, Leonor, will be next in line to succeed him in the event that his wife, Princess Letizia has a boy.
