Elsewhere in Metro Detroit, police were called to a home in Clawson after a neighbor claimed they heard a woman screaming for her boyfriend to stop amid what sounded like a violent altercation.

"One of the neighbors had heard somebody yelling — a female yelling … she was possibly being hit — yelling, ‘Stop! No!," Clawson Police Chief Harry Anderson told WWJ Newsradio.

It took police mere minutes to arrive at the apartment complex, and just a few seconds of sniffing to determine there was no domestic violence taking place.

"The female that was inside stated that her boyfriend had continued to pass gas, and she was yelling at him to stop," Anderson told the radio station.

Following the loud-but-harmless fart joke's punch line, officers "cleared the scene expeditiously," according to the official report.
