Paul Goldberger of the New Yorker, in conversation with Kurt Andersen, calls for a broadcast tower on the Twin Towers site, one as ambitious as the Eiffel tower was in its day. Listen to the interview; here's an excerpt:

Downtown developers say none of the proposed world trade center plans are commercially viable. Transportation and infrastructure problems will be difficult to remedy when the market for development is increasingly smaller.

Thierry Meyssan, the author of 9-11, The Big Lie, a French bestseller suggesting that the U.S. military planned the September 11th attacks, is kicking off his U.S. book tour. The curiously-named French publisher, USA Books, says it may begin "as early as this month." Meyssan has never been to New York. Perhaps he should have visited before he wrote the book.
