A small plane smashed through the roof of an apartment building in Northern Virginia just after midnight on Friday. Amazingly, only one of the six people sleeping in the apartment was hurt.

Passengers were able to trap it in the bathroom until the plane could turn back around and land, but it unfortunately escaped before animal control could test it for rabies and/or vampire rabies. At least 44 are dead after a jet crashed onto a highway in northwestern Russia late Monday night, officials say. It was coming from Moscow, and crash-landed in heavy fog nearly one mile from the runway at its destination in Besovets. There were 43 passengers and 9 crew members on board; some, including a child, survived, and were taken to a nearby hospital. [CNN, video via AP]

Due to the crazypants thunderstorms barreling through the region, the plane had to make an unscheduled stop in Rochester, NY.
