Sucking up to the CEO's wife is usually a wise move. But did it doom MySpace chief Chris DeWolfe?

Amit Kapur, the 27-year-old No. 2 executive at MySpace, is leaving, according to a memo from MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe. It looks like he's planning a startup: He's taking two executives with him.

Tom is getting older every year — and that's not even counting his little fib about his age. So News Corp. has found a new 20something — this time, a real one — to serve as MySpace's face: COO Amit Kapur, the guy MySpace hired to execute its plan to mimic Facebook. Elevated from the ranks, Kapur oversees business development, business operations, platform development, mobile, finance, HR and customer support. Which sounds impressive until interviewer Kara Swisher dismisses him with a deadpan, "Wow, you're the big guy."

MySpace will launch its third-party developer platform on February 5, according to reports. And, because copying Facebook is about more than just following its major initiatives nine months later, the News Corp. social network today announced it would install almost Zuckerberg-aged 26-year old Amit Kapur as MySpace's new COO. But will Scoble find him as charming?
