Who's In Your Yearbook?

Leah Finnegan · 12/30/14 03:25PM

While cleaning out his bookshelves last night, my boyfriend stumbled across his Ann Arbor Community High School yearbook. He opened to page 35. "Do you recognize anyone?" he asked. I didn't, even though he was on page 35 (he looks very different now!). He pointed to the high school's most famous graduate, a non-descript looking teen named Andrew Wilkes-Krier, who would go on to become the very descript professional partier and "multi-instrumentalist" Andrew WK. Another wallflower blossomed.

Andrew W.K. Apparently Crashed 4chan by Partying Too Hard

Max Read · 02/13/11 09:00PM

What's musician/party god Andrew W.K. doing for the Grammys? Crashing anarchic image-board 4chan by "partying too hard"—that is, hanging out and answering questions, apparently. W.K. popped by the site's music board /mu/ (bearing a site-standard identity-verifying photograph) and answered a few questions over two different threads, in the process slowing the whole site down and causing brief outages. The first one, which was locked is here; the second is here.

A Guide to NYC's Celebrity-Owned Bars and Restaurants

cityfile · 08/05/08 01:01PM

There's probably been a time or two when you've been tempted to check out a restaurant or bar simply because some celebrity supposedly "owns" it. Maybe I'll see Justin Timberlake devouring a plate of ribs at Southern Hospitality! Or I'll spot Robert De Niro slurping on some pasta at Ago! Restaurateurs know this, too, of course, which is why they're all so eager to attach a celebrity name—any one will do!—to their ill-conceived bistro, brasserie, speakeasy, lounge, or barbecue shack. We don't want to be the ones to crush your dreams and tell you that there's no chance you'll see these famous faces at these venues. Just in case you're the more optimistic type—or just curious who has a stake in what—we happily introduce the Cityfile celebrity-owned restaurant/bar map!

Team Party Crash: High Voltage @ Sutra

abalk2 · 01/25/07 03:30PM

We know, sweet children, that you've missed the galleries of LES hipstards. For that, we offer our sincerest apologies. Fear not, however, because Nikola Tamindzic has returned from shooting dirty sluts in Vegas and is back to his regular schedule of shooting dirty sluts in NYC. Last night we sent him to survey the High Voltage scene at Sutra, which hosted the debut DJ set from the totally talented Andrew WK. That's right, the guy who bought your eardrums to orgasm with such hits as "It's Time to Party", "Love Live the Party", "Party Hard" and our personal favorite, "Party Till You Puke" has gone and donned a pair of headphones and iPod and calls himself a DJ.
