New York City's latest subway hero is Joshua Garcia, who jumped onto the Union Square subway tracks Wednesday and saved an unconscious teenage girl. He is a true hero. Many of the bystanders, however, are terrible people.

Last week, a Mississippi man finally pled guilty to mailing President Obama a ricin-laden letter and trying to frame an Elvis impersonator for the crime. Tuesday, he settled other legal business: confessing that he inappropriately touched little girls at his karate studio, Tupelo Taekwondo Plus.

Cecilia Chang, the former dean of the Institute of Asian Studies at St. John's University, is a terrible person. She stands accused of embezzling $1 million from her school. Also: forcing scholarship students to be her servants. Positively Dickensian!
