The judge presiding over the case of Brian Rice, the highest-ranking Baltimore Police Department officer charged in the 2015 killing of Freddie Gray, has dropped an assault charge against Rice, Fox 45 Baltimore is reporting.

A teenager carrying a BB gun who was nonfatally shot by a Baltimore police detective Wednesday said “It’s not real” before the detective opened fire, according to one eyewitness. The boy’s mother identified him to the Baltimore Sun as 14-year-old Dedric Colvin.

A deleted post to a private Baltimore neighborhood Facebook group details an exchange between two uniformed BPD cops and employees at a Chipotle in which the employees, on seeing the police, raised their hands and yelled “hands up, don’t shoot,” mimicking anti-police brutality protests across the country.
