Daniel Barnum-Swett · 03/16/10 10:45AM

This granny introduces a BBC program on punk with the most fitting disclaimer she can. Warning of the questionable content ahead, she launches into a shocking stream of swears that are actually pretty adorable coming from a sweet old lady.

Charlie Brooker Has Snow Reporting Down to a Hilarious Science

Brian Moylan · 02/10/10 03:17PM

The "SnOMGpocalypse of Death" today has us thinking of the BBC commentator's hilarious meta take on how the news networks report on disastrous weather—namely snow. It's a clever dissection of scare tactics, the word "treacherous," and people falling.

The BBC Teaches the Literal Step-by-Step Process on TV Reporting

Mike Byhoff · 01/28/10 02:38PM

And this isn't the first time Brooker has pointed out the secrets of television. He also showed the tips and tricks of video editing in reality television. And maybe if you wanted to write a nice diatribe about those two videos, you should follow the guidelines for an incendiary blog post. What's the point of even being a Journalism major anymore? Hahaha. That was a stupid question with an obvious answer. I'm sorry.

First Movie Shot by Chimps Lacks Visual Style, Depth, and Ability to Work a Camera

Mike Byhoff · 01/25/10 02:45PM

In this preview clip, BBC America took what was probably the most usable minute of footage and slapped it into their preview. Man Lives in House Made Entirely of Legos

Whitney Jefferson · 12/23/09 01:27PM

A man built a Lego house that's cold, leaking, and not-so-functional. He bathes in a lego shower and uses legos to scrub himself "clean." All for the sake of making history? Sure, that's not weird at all!

Lehman Brothers: The Movie

cityfile · 09/10/09 10:42AM

The movie about the fall of Lehman Brothers aired on the BBC last night. The Financial Times' Alphaville blog wasn't the least bit impressed with the "cringeworthingly hilarious" made-for-TV production. The "failed irony, bad acting and moral superiority," along with "overly earnest analogies to the movie Fight Club" and "a very sweaty OCD-obsessive clown-like Dick Fuld," gave it "the quality [of a] straight-to-video release," Izabella Kaminska reports. We'll leave it to you to decide how the filmmakers fared in terms of casting. From left to right: actor Henry Goodman as Morgan Stanley chief John Mack; and Michael Brandon as "brash tough-talking" JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon. Update: Dealbreaker has a clip of the movie here. [FT]

Iran Going Totally Batshit For The Second Weekend In A Row

Foster Kamer · 06/20/09 02:30PM

Here we go again - Iran's utterly losing it as you read this, and it's way, way worse this time: there's a potential world leader ready for martyrdom, shooting deaths, more rioting, and a possible national strike.

Playboy Should Call Ron Burkle

Hamilton Nolan · 05/28/09 01:40PM

In your misty Thursday media column: no bunnies for Richard Branson, no viewers for NBC, a shot at enlightenment for America's dumb children, and—finally—a classy new porn mag:
