Today is National Hot Dog Day! Unfortunately, the president of the National Pork Producers Council is unavailable to celebrate, since he was arrested this afternoon in Washington trying to enter a Capitol complex office with his unlicensed 9mm pistol. He's probably being grilled by police.

Rezwan Ferdaus, a 26-year-old Massachusetts resident was arrested in an FBI sting on Wednesday after allegedly plotting to use a large remote controlled aircraft packed with C-4 plastic explosives to attack the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.

The young mothers of Capitol Hill have a fancy basement hideout called the "boob cube." Jealous?

Capitol Police put Congress on lockdown late this morning, terrifying everyone. It didn't last long, though, after police took down a "man with a weapon" outside Senate office buildings. 'Twas a fleeting moment of excitement for poor, overworked Hill staffers.

Lazy Congressmen don't even return from summer vacation until tomorrow, but somebody's already pretending to kill them. The Capitol was evacuated today after a powder was discovered on the House floor. It wasn't toxic, however; probably just some staffer's blow.

The Capitol has selected its 2010 National Christmas Tree from a Wyoming forest! Park rangers, however, are worried about vandals cutting it down and "must figure out how to obscure its exact location within the 3.4 million acre park." Impossible.

Oh boy, a Capitol Police alert! Everyone evacuate the US Capitol Visitors Center ASAP and then Twitter about it!
