Cashmore's Kazakhstani wedding pics

Nicholas Carlson · 08/04/08 06:00PM

Mashable founder Pete Cashmore makes a living throwing parties. Tumblr founder David Karp seems to get by on going to them, if only to make people say, "Why who's that fellow dressed so much like, Chuck Bass, and how can I join any website he's created?" This must explain why the two make such good dancing partners. But won't Iminlikewithyou founder Charles Forman get jealous? Write your own caption for this post and we'll use the best one as its new title. Friday's winner is bloggerman with "And in the end the stock you take is equal to the mess you make."

And in the end the stock you take is equal to the mess you make

How many ex-Yahoo managers does it take to reproduce a classic Beatles album cover? From left to right: Salim Ismail, Chad Dickerson, Scott Gatz, and Bradley Horowitz. All four were, at some point, responsible for parts of Yahoo's advanced-products group, including the Brickhouse incubator in San Francisco. The band reunited last night at the 21st Amendment bar in San Francisco's South of Market district to bid Dickerson farewell; he is leaving Yahoo to become CTO of Etsy, the Brooklyn-based marketplace for hipster-friendly handicrafts one must nod politely about. Ismail is attending to Confabb, the startup he failed to sell before joining Yahoo; Gatz is now running GayCities, a queer-travel website; and Horowitz is now at Google. Baptiste, for "One bubble Pete Cashmore would like to pop."

Careful, Pete — get too handsy and we hear Niles could happy slap you back to Blighty, as when she's not appearing in Californication or on French Maid TV, she practices kung fu and holds a second degree black belt. Maybe next time she can torture him into confessing what, exactly, he does besides show up at parties to pose with hotties. Can you come up with a better caption? Do so in the comments. Marissa Mayer resorts to hand gestures to explain complex concepts in terms inferior non-Googlers can understand at last January's DLD conference in Munich, Germany. The four photos in the series also provide an uncanny visual metaphor for Google's initially hot but eventually cooled interest in purchasing Digg. Can you come up with a better caption? I, for one, can't count any number of occasions that I wished I could pull my trouser waist up in at least a nominal effort toward chaste discretion. Can you come up with a better caption? If there's a lens, egoblogger Robert Scoble's in front of it. But who's behind it? Rocky Barbanica, the cameraman who Scobleizes the Scobleizer. In this photo, he shows off a pint-sized, plastic version of a much younger Scoble. Can you think of a better headline? Leave it in the comments. The best one will become the post's new headline. Snarfd's Chris Baskind submits to us this image: the miraculous appearance of egoblogger Robert Scoble's face, charred into the side of a grilled-cheese sandwich. A miracle of the Church of Scoble, or just a Photoshop worth bowing too? Whatever you believe, give us your best caption. The winner will become the post's new title. Friday's winner is mrfomoco with: "What's that, girl? You have an implanted memory of Timmy being stuck in the old well?"

As F. Scott Fitzgerald once quipped, "The rich are different than you and me." Case in point here is this pet cruising on Echo Lake in the Sierras, apparently one of six privately cloned in South Korea from a deceased dog named Missy. Have a better caption? A community activist at the Yahoo Employee Foundation picnic spins a "Wheel of Misfortune" which asks questions like "Who are the poorest people in Sunnyvale? How many people need food stamps? What percentage of Sunnyvale residents are low in income?" I'm guessing the answer isn't "Yahoo shareholders." Have a better caption? The best one will become the new headline. A session at Foo Camp last weekend put on by Christy Canida and Jane McGonigal was meant to teach "things like empathy, how to play a role in a larger group, confidence in social settings, and supporting them in creating meaningful relationships online and in the real world." Wikipedia cofounder Jimmy Wales seems to have spent it text messaging — click for the full photo. Have a better caption? The best one will become the new headline. Further confirmation that if you build a virtual world like Google's new Lively, it will be instantly populated by anthropomorphised animal avatars — also known as furries. In the future, all cats will be bipedal and wear pirate outfits with cowboy hats. Have a better caption?
