• Scott Bessent, the founder of the hedge fund Bessent Capital and a protégé of billionaire George Soros, has taken a loss on the sale on his duplex co-op at One Sutton Place South. The four-bedroom, 11-room spread, which Bessent bought for $12 million in 2007 and listed for $12.5 million last October, has been sold to Joshua and Juliet Berkowitz for $9.5 million. • The townhouse at 11 East 82nd Street that was purchased by Ron Perelman as a home for one of his executives back in 1996 and was later acquired by private investor Keith Gollust, has gone into contract after more than a year and a half on the market. The 13-room, 11,875-square-foot Robert A.M. Stern-designed mansion, which has been on-and-off the market since 2004, was listed with Paula Del Nunzio for $33 million in March 2008. Since then, Shabtai has switched brokers (he's hired Carrie Chiang) and cut the price twice, dropping it down to $26.75 million last September and then down to $19.95 million earlier this week.
