Police are not going to punish a journalist for doing his job at a Donald Trump rally, it turns out.

A CBS News segment Friday featured a focus group of American Muslims being questioned by pollster Frank Luntz. The segment ran about seven minutes, and a few minutes more were uploaded to CBSNews.com. However, according to The Intercept, all of the most critical Muslim voices were edited out entirely.

A few months ago, investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson resigned from CBS News, citing her network’s alleged fear of crossing the Obama administration. Today Attkisson reappeared on The Daily Signal, a news website bankrolled by The Heritage Foundation—a powerful conservative think tank—with a story about a government-funded research trial that may have harmed premature infants...during the George W. Bush administration.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham is one of the loudest voices of the Republican Party’s Benghazi conspiracy faction. According to Joe Hagan of New York magazine, Graham’s commitment to circulating rumors about the incident prompted 60 Minutes correspondent Lara Logan to consult the senator on what really happened during the September 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. It didn’t go so well.

Long-time investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson, who has repeatedly suggested that dark government forces secretly infiltrated her home and work computers in order to make them act weird, is finally resigning from CBS News. Attkisson tweeted her resignation on Monday afternoon, just as Politico reported that her contentious contract negotiations fell apart over Attkisson’s belief that CBS suffered from a “liberal bias”:

60 Minutes, CBS News’ hour-long Sunday newsmagazine, had a good run during its 45 year history, during which its target cohort had kids and retired to Florida. But as the last month indicates—Benghazi! Amazon drones! NSA!—it’s time for the glossy production to clean house. Or, more likely, die.

Major Garrett, CBS News' chief White House correspondent, sure is mad at someone! This tweet flickered briefly across our screens this morning before Garrett noticed and deleted it; it was likely intended as a DM for some unfortunate soul—another reporter? A source? National Journal's Jim O'Sullivan, who tweeted this directly before Garrett flew off the handle:

While teasing an upcoming segment about the Douche and Duchess—sorry, Duke and Duchess—of Cambridge, a CBS newscaster showed us a glimpse of his foul-mouthed and likely more honest subconscious. Sure, he meant to say "Duke," but his casual chuckle betrays him. "Heh heh," he says to himself and everyone watching CBS 2 at 1 o'clock on a Wednesday.

It's been a while since we've checked in on CBS, television for people who lost the remote, so what's going on over at the Eye Network? Is Colin Powell still singing "Call Me Maybe"? Nope, it's just Charlie Rose yelling at you to get off his lawn dancing.

CBS News' Mike Wallace, who died over the weekend at 93, is being hailed as an icon of broadcast journalism for his foundational role as 60 Minutes' investigative bulldog. This is bullshit. He was a failed soap actor and vaudeville hack named Myron who just wanted to be on television. He was as much a journalist as Ryan Seacrest.

CBS News correspondent Armen Keteyian told his Twitter followers today that he'd spoken with the former quarterback who discovered Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky allegedly raping a 10-year-old. "Tonight on Evening News," Keteyian wrote, "Mike McQueary breaks his silence and opens a window for me into his emotions." McQueary sure did! For about 20 seconds.

Last night CBS News did a segment about Alex Morse, the newly-elected 22-year-old mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts. It's not only newsworthy that Morse is the country's youngest mayor, but also newsworthy that he's one of only a handful of openly gay mayors. So, why did they gloss over the second fact?

The live web show launched as "What's Trending at cbsnews.com" is now simply known as "What's Trending," all because CBS News got all freaked out about one silly false report that the most famous CEO in the world had tragically died.

Remember Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the amazing airline pilot who cured 9/11 by safely landing a damaged plane in the Hudson? Yeah, he's great. Well, he was great.

Oh, blah. CBS News has announced that scold-face white man Scott Pelley will be Katie Couric's replacement on the CBS Evening News. No surprise whatsoever. I guess CBS went with the surprise candidate last time, and that didn't turn out too well. Still, it's a shame that Watson the Jeopardy Robot won't get his chance.

Network news divisions are still huge, relatively well-financed producers of some of America's best news coverage. They're also very slowly becoming dinosaurs. But hey—at least they're trying!

The Center for Public Integrity is reporting that an unnamed former ABC News journalist was an FBI informant during and after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, passing along tips and revealing a source. We know who it is.

CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric will leave the program in May, according to a "network executive" who has apparently not been paying attention to the thousands of news and gossip items that essentially confirmed the departure forever ago. [AP]
