"Girls Who Typically Spilled White-Out In Their $600 Prada Bags And Then Just Bought New Ones"

Emily Gould · 09/28/07 11:30AM

Another day, another handful of letters from current or former students of pricey Upper East Side girls' academy Chapin, alternately defending and slamming their alma mater for its classism and sluttiness or lack thereof. Near as we can figure, attending the school seems to be a totally different experience for the truly super-wealthy than it is for the plain old wealthy (or, as our correspondents like to call it, "middle-class.") Huh!

"In Advisory Today, We Talked About The Ignort Fools Who Wrote The Article Lying About How Bad Chapin Is"

The last we heard from Manhattan girls school Chapin was an alumna's letter that told of Prep for Prep girls beating each other with lacrosse sticks and "several coke addicts, the usual bulimics and anorexics, a pair of twins (one of whom was schizo) overachievers galore, several heiresses to large impressive fortunes and some slutty girls." A purported current student is appalled. But she'd probably spell it "apaled." Seriously, someone's paying $30K a year for this level of erudition?

Chapin Speaks! "Hewitt Was For The Dumb Girls"

Emily Gould · 09/25/07 11:35AM

Yesterday, we heard from an alumna of Manhattan's all-girl Hewitt School whose classmates made her feel poor because she didn't hobnob with the King of Morocco. But, she said, those rich bitches "always wanted to hear about Chapin. That's where all the dirty crazy action was supposed to be." Today, a Chapin alumna fills in the blanks! Also, Dirty Crazy Action is coming to NBC next fall.

"I Was Raised On The Upper West Side And Always Thought I Was Poor"

Kari Brandt, the student body president of the Upper East Side's prestigious all-girls Hewitt School, wants the world to know that "Hewitt students do not characterize popularity by looks, money or experience." But a Hewitt alumna and former student council VP wishes to clarify this point. "I would like to take this time to openly address the issue of the Hewitt School having gone there for 7 years and being the joyful recipient of it's prestigious 1995-2000 cancer cluster. I'll begin with Kari," she writes.
