Rachel Dolezal, the former Spokane, Wash. NAACP leader who lied for years about being black, came forward on The Today Show this morning to address her racial identity (“I identify as black,” she said.) What she did not mention was her previous assertion that her parents went to the media about her racial obfuscation because she supports a sibling who was allegedly sexually abused by her brother.

Pope Francis accepted the resignations of two U.S. Catholic bishops today in the wake of a child sex abuse scandal in St. Paul, Minnesota. Archbishop John C. Nienstedt and Auxillary Bishop Lee A. Piché have quit their posts after Minnesota prosecutors charged the archdiocese with the “mishandling of repeated complaints of sexual misconduct against a priest,” per The New York Times.

The jury at the trial of Jerry Sandusky had already gone into deliberations when Sandusky's son Matt made allegations of sexual abuse against his father. The now-grown man, whom Sandusky and his wife Dottie adopted when he was a teenager, had previously denied any wrongdoing by his father.

Now that Jerry Sandusky has been found guilty of 45 of the 48 charges against him, Penn State would like to put the ugly incident behind them. But the school's child-sex abuse scandal is far from over, as further legal and financial consequences loom on the horizon.
