The 2,000-square-foot apartment on the building's 19th floor, which comes with two terraces, private elevator landing, and neighbors like Jerry Seinfeld and John McEnroe, is listed with Corcoran's Robby Browne and can be yours for $11.8 million. • Blackstone Group co-founder Steve Schwarzman and his wife Christine have unloaded their old East Hampton home. The 2.1-acre property, which the billionaire financier bought for $2.3 million in 1996 and put on the market for $7.2 million in August 2009, has been sold to "power couple" Thomas Gallagher and Alice Jarcho-Gallagher for $6.25 million. [NYP]

• Blackstone Group co-founder Steve Schwarzman and his wife Christine have put their East Hampton home on the market. The 2.1-acre property, which the couple purchased for $2.3 million in 1996, is listed for $7.2 million. The couple will hardly be homeless if and when they sell it. The Schwarzmans are finishing up construction work on the much larger estate in Water Mill they agreed to buy in 2005 for $34 million. [WSJ, BHS]
• Developer Bruce Ratner has sold his 4,500-square-foot home in Montauk to art dealer David Zwirner for $10 million. He's reportedly looking for a "less pricey" estate in Quogue. [NYP]

Steve Schwarzman Can't Keep Himself From Celebrating

Page Six reported yesterday that Steve Schwarzman was spotted living it up in St. Tropez, "staying cool at the VIP Room" while "his wife, Christine, and two blond friends, Michelle Herbert and Gina de Franco, danced together like the Pussycat Dolls." If you took the revelry as a tip off that Schwarzman's Blackstone Group is planning to share good news when the private equity giant releases quarterly earnings on Thursday, you may not have been the only one. Blackstone shares were up 21 percent today, "a surge that one options analyst attributed to investors buying on speculation that upcoming earnings would be better than expected." [Page Six, Reuters]

Steve Schwarzman Copes with the Crisis at the Beach

cityfile · 10/06/08 08:16AM

Most private equity titans are sitting in their stately offices high above the city nervously eyeing the declining stock prices on their Bloomberg flat-panels on their desks. Not Steve Schwarzman, the billionaire co-founder of the Blackstone Group. Steve simply decided to skip the mess altogether and jet off to his house in St. Tropez. He isn't sitting in his beachside mansion fretting about the millions he's losing on an hourly basis either. Over the weekend he and his wife Christine were spotted at Club 55, where the couple were apparently "trying to ignore the dire economic news." Here's hoping generous helpings of tuna carpaccio and Beluga caviar helped ease the pain.

Christine Schwarzman in the Buff

Dorrit Moussaieff is Iceland's First Lady. Her husband is the country's president, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson. (She's also a jewelry designer and Jewish; who knew there were Jews in Iceland?) Anyway, not long ago Moussaieff tried to come up with a birthday president for one of her good friends. The problem: Her pal, Steve Schwarzman, the billionaire chairman of Blackstone Group, already had everything! What do you buy a man who snacks on $400 crabs the way normal people munch on popcorn at the movies?

Christine Schwarzman

cityfile · 04/23/08 04:43PM

Christine wasn't born rich-she's the daughter of a NYC firefighter-but she has a knack for marrying the extremely wealthy. The former intellectual property lawyer was married to publishing heir Austin Chilton Hearst before tying the knot with financier Steve Schwarzman in 1995.
