NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton will resign today, ABC News reports, just a week after Bratton announced he would retire in 2017.

On Thursday morning, the Office of Mayor Bill de Blasio sent a press release announcing that City Hall would be lit orange to mark the final day of National Gun Violence Awareness Month. Not to be outdone, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced, an hour later, that 1 World Trade Center would also be lit orange.

Amid a sprawling federal investigation into the mayor’s administration, Bill de Blasio’s top lawyer, Maya Wiley, is leaving her position to head up the Civilian Complaint Review Board. She is the third high-level staffer to leave City Hall this month.

In a meeting last week described by one staffer as “the most depressing pep talk,” Bill de Blasio, New York City’s beleaguered mayor, asked members of his administration to keep the faith amid proliferating controversies. “He told us that no one is going to thank him for ‘not being dead,’” the staffer told Gothamist, “because the homicide rate is down and Vision Zero is working.”

William K. Rashbaum and Al Baker of The New York Times have a deep dive into the ongoing and increasingly complex federal investigation of two fundraisers associated with a non-profit called the Campaign for One New York, which supported the election of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2013. Investigators are apparently trying to figure out whether those fundraisers, a real estate executive named Jona Rechnitz and a consultant Jeremy Reichberg, obtained favorable treatment from de Blasio’s administration in exchange for monetary support of the Democrat’s campaign. The problem, though, is that....nobody seems to know what prompted the investigation in the first place:

The blog ScoutingNY scored a tour of 5 Beekman Street just blocks from Manhattan's City Hall. The 1882 building has been shuttered since the '40s and is home to a gorgeous atrium, wrought iron details, and spectacular views. Amazing.

At last night's Inner Circle bash for the City Hall Press Corps, the Mayor performed with the cast of the campy Broadway roller-disco musical Xanadu. Bloomberg wore two ridiculous costumes that belong to two different City tribes— the gays and the hipsters. At left, an absolutely flaming photo of the Mayor in vaudeville dandy gear surrounded by boys in togas. In the shot on the right, Mike wears an ensemble straight out of the Lower East Side complete with shiny, purple American Apparel spandex and leg-warmers. So where do his loyalties really lie? Is Mayor Mike a gay or a hipster?
