Obama-Hating CEO Had Best Year Ever Under Obama
Hamilton Nolan · 01/05/15 02:05PMThe "Queen of Versailles" Shows Off the Progress on Her Absurd House
Rich Juzwiak · 09/26/13 10:16AMDavid and Jackie Siegel set out to build the United States' largest single-family house (in Florida, of course), but after David's time-share business, Westgate, went belly-up, they lost it all. This was depicted in last year's astounding Queen of Versailles documentary. In the time after the movie was filmed, as Jackie claimed earlier this year on Watch What Happens Live, David's business gained footing, posted its biggest profits ever, and the couple bought back their formerly foreclosed 'roid roost. They also disputed the veracity of the documentary, in court and elsewhere.
The Queen of Versailles Says She Is Doing Fine, Ruins Her Documentary
Rich Juzwiak · 04/30/13 04:18PMJackie Siegel, the subject of last year's brilliant and harrowing Queen of Versailles documentary, appeared on last night's episode of Watch What Happens Live after Bravo premiered the doc. The film, which chronicles Jackie and her husband David's abandoned attempt to build the largest single-family house in the country as well as their timeshare company's financial ruin, ran with a disclaimer tagged to its end that read:
So, Did Rich CEOs Lay Everyone Off When Obama Was Elected?
Hamilton Nolan · 11/08/12 11:19AMLast month, David Siegel, the CEO of Westgate Resorts, sent his thousands of employees a very ominous letter warning them that if Barack Obama was reelected, it could "endanger your job," and that "If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company." So... has everyone been fired, yet?
The CEO Who Built Himself America's Largest House Just Threatened to Fire His Employees if Obama's Elected
Hamilton Nolan · 10/09/12 11:30AMDavid Siegel is the founder and CEO of Westgate Resorts, a huge national timeshare company and one of the largest resort developers in the world. In 2007 he was a billionaire, although he may be only a hundred-millionaire now. He and his wife Jackie were the subjects of the recent documentary "The Queen of Versailles," about their ongoing quest to build the largest house in America, a 90,000 square foot monument to excess. And yesterday, David Siegel sent an email to all of his thousands of employees, in which he—in a veiled way—insinuated that they would be fired of Barack Obama is reelected.
