Wednesday evening, a spokeswoman for McKinney, Texas, apologized to Gawker for sending a $79,000 bill to fulfill a Public Information Act request concerning a police officer who pointed his gun at a group of unarmed teenagers at a pool party.

Days after McKinney, Texas, police officer Eric Casebolt was filmed pointing his service weapon at a group of unarmed black teenagers at a pool party this month, Gawker submitted a Public Information Act request to the city of McKinney asking to see Casebolt’s records and any emails about his conduct sent or received by McKinney Police Department employees. Today, we received a letter from the city’s attorneys claiming that fulfilling our request would cost $79,229.09.

The attorney for disgraced former McKinney police officer Eric Casebolt said today that her client “never intended to mistreat” anyone and “regrets that his conduct portrayed him and his department in a negative light.”

Officer Eric Casebolt resigned from the McKinney police force Tuesday, three days after a video of him violently throwing an unarmed 15-year-old girl to the ground was published on YouTube.

Casebolt has apparently deleted his Twitter and Linkedin accounts, but what appears to be his Youtube profile—and, with it, a video playlist titled “Police training”—remains.

On Saturday, video was uploaded to Youtube of police officers screaming at and arresting children at a community pool in Texas. One officer, confronted by two boys while grabbing a young girl by the neck and shoving her head towards the ground, pulls his gun and points it at them.
