What's New in Music
Jason Richards · 10/03/11 01:34PMPoor Kanye. The rapper launched his first womenswear collection in Paris on Saturday, giving at least two fashion writers the opportunity to employ the timeless diss "stick to your day job." Fortunately, many artists have done just that – and made some great music as a result. Why, let's talk about it.
'Spider-Man' Just Got a Lot Indier
Adrian Chen · 01/20/10 01:37AMSad Feist Must Now Sing For You
Ryan Tate · 02/11/08 05:33AMIndie Canadian singer Leslie Feist got all dressed up for the Grammys, then got shut out 0-4 for Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Short Form Music Video. Depressing enough. But then she had to get up and perform for all the ungrateful LA schlubs who voted against her, and she just wasn't in to it. Can you blame her? Entertainment Weekly wrote, "Feist seems kind of freaked out... She's going for minimal eye contact." One of her fellow Canadians wrote, "maybe she's just isn't ready for that 'major global spotlight." Decide for yourself after the jump.
The New Feist Video Is Pretty Great.
Joshua David Stein · 01/25/08 05:58AMCanadian chanteuse Feist is like Charlotte Gainsbourg minus the pedigree mixed with Arcade Fire minus the manparts plus Cat Power minus the blah whatever diva moodiness with some Patti Smith minus the ugly. She just released the video for the stellar song "I Feel It All" which makes the best use of barrels in a music video since Bruce Springsteen's Streets of Philadelphia.

Behind the Scenes at New York Times Photo Sex Parties
Mike · 05/20/07 04:21PMRegular Gawker Weekend bread and butter means clowning on the Times wholesale and full-scale, particularly when they try to jump species and turn what is normally just a bunch of paper folded together into a multimedia internet experience. It's difficult to imagine the circumstances under which someone would actually click through to the multimedia segments of the Times website, but in a hard-up moment we put our peepers to "All the Fixings," a.k.a. the 'T' style magazine's highly speedy, behind-the-scenes look at a recent cover photo shoot.
