John Cook · 05/08/12 04:16PMIn the wake of the New York County District Attorney's decision last month to launch a criminal investigation into Joe Muto, a.k.a. the Fox Mole, for the alleged theft of videos from his former employer Fox News, we thought it would be worthwhile to find out what we could about what relationship, if any, exists between the DA's office and Roger Ailes' operation. So we used New York's Freedom of Information Law to ask for correspondence and emails between Fox News employees and staffers in the DA's office. Today they refused our request.

This morning, Muto's apartment was raided by investigators for the New York County District Attorney's Office, who seized his computer, mobile phone and tablet computer in the course of investigating "attempt[s] and conspiracy to commit...grand larceny, petit larceny, and computer tampering."

Daulerio · 04/25/12 08:52AMJoe Muto, formerly known as the Fox News Mole, reported on Twitter this morning that he received a visit from the District Attorney's office at 6:30 a.m. According to Muto, the warrant accuses him of grand larceny and conspiracy—WITH WHOM?—"amongst other things" in connection to his role as Gawker's Fox News correspondent, which lasted close to 36 hours. The DA's office took his laptop, an iPad, and an iPhone.
