• There was no shortage of drama at the Grammys last night. Chris Brown and Rihanna were both no-shows after Brown was arrested for allegedly assaulting the R&B singer. Usher failed to appear, too, flying down to Brazil to be with his wife, who suffered complications from a plastic surgery operation. One person who did make it to the show was M.I.A., who performed on stage with Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I., and Kanye West despite being nine months pregnant. [NYP, People, EW]

Gwyneth Will Tell You What to Eat, Where to Stay

cityfile · 01/15/09 02:22PM

Actress (and aspiring gym entrepreneur!) Gwyneth Paltrow was kind enough to post a list of her favorite restaurants and hotels on that new lifestyle website of hers, Goop.com. Lots of the usual suspects are mentioned, like Balthazar and Babbo, which is owned by her food travel show co-host, Mario Batali, naturally. The hotels reflect the places she's lived for the past year while her apartment is being renovated. (That sounds cost efficient!) So where has Gwynnie spent the past 12 months? She says she's only mentioned the places she "loved," a list that includes the Lowell, Bowery, Carlyle, Mercer, and the Inn at Irving Place. But she throws in the Greenwich Hotel, too, although she admits she's yet to see the place. "It looks good on the website anyway." Good enough for us! [Goop via Eater]

To all those critics of Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP, the inane newsletter and website that serves as a repository for Paltrow's infinite wisdom, know this: Gwynnie "feels sorry" for you, since you probably haven't had a life as "blessed" and "unique" as hers. [USA Today]

♦ On the heels of her PBS culinary show and appearance on Oprah last week, Gwyneth Paltrow is launching a new "lifestyle website" called Goop. "Read something beautiful. Treat yourself to something. Go to a city you've never been to," reads the site's mission statement. Of course, it's a lot easier to spend your days reading novels, shopping at fancy stores, and traveling to exotic places when you're as rich and famous as Gwyneth Paltrow. [The Daily]
