Taylor Swift Is Not Very Good at Beatboxing

Taylor Berman · 12/05/12 11:26PM

When she's not busy dating all the men in the universe, Taylor Swift is doing normal person things, like beatboxing on stage at the Grammy Nominations Concert while LL Cool J raps/sings. Of course, T-Swizzle is terrible at beatboxing. To be fair, though, everyone is terrible at beatboxing. But look, she's just so good natured about the whole thing!

The Grammys Are Better Than the Oscars Now

Drew Magary · 02/13/12 03:40PM

I was watching the Grammys last night because I had nothing better to do, and it dawned on me that, for all of the Grammys' shortcomings (and there are many), I enjoyed watching that telecast FAR more than I've enjoyed watching any Oscars telecast over the past 10 or 20 years. Here's why:

Bon Iver Turn Down Grammys in Favor of Whining

Louis Peitzman · 02/04/12 02:48PM

Indie folk fans tuning in to the Grammys — gotta be some overlap there, right? — will be disappointed to learn Bon Iver will not be performing. The Hollywood Reporter has some choice quotes from frontman Justin Vernon, who spoke to press on Thursday night at a Bushmills whiskey event in New York. Vernon's musical talent is apparent, but he could use some work on not sounding like a complete tool. Turns out his frustration with the Grammys stems from Bon Iver being asked to perform with — horror of all horrors — another group.

Steve Jobs Gets a Grammy

Ryan Tate · 12/21/11 07:36PM

The Recording Academy announced Steve Jobs will receive a Trustees Award. Jobs's Apple won a technical Grammy in 2002, but this posthumous honor puts him in pantheon with The Beatles - who Jobs promised he'd never sell music (oops!).

The Grammys Slim Down

Brian Moylan · 04/06/11 04:42PM

The bloated music industry love-in known as the Grammys has decided to cut the number of prizes it awards. Instead of handing out 109 trophies at next year's show, just 78 will be given out. That's a good way to start trimming the fat, but they didn't go far enough.

Serene Branson's Greatest Enemy Has Achieved God-Like Powers

John Cook · 02/14/11 03:37PM

Serene Branson, the reporter for L.A.'s CBS affiliate who rather scarily descended into gibberish during Grammy coverage last night, did not have an on-air stroke. According to the New York Daily News, she wasn't hospitalized, is "feeling fine this morning," and was given the OK by paramedics at the scene after inexplicably speaking in tongues during a live shot. CBS isn't feeling so great about things though: It's started systematically trying to remove clips of the glitch from YouTube, citing copyright infringement.

Bieber Fans Attack Esperanza Spalding's Wikipedia Page

Max Read · 02/13/11 11:06PM

If you were just Googling "Esperanza Spalding"—tonight's surprise winner of the Grammy for Best New Artist—you may have been surprised to learn from her Wikipedia page that "SHE IS F****** REATARD," or that her middle name is either "Justin" or "Quesadilla," or, for that matter, that she beat out "Nominee and gay favorite Justina Bieber" for the award. Well! Far be it from us to cast aspersion on the accuracy of a user-edited font of knowledge like Wikipedia, but it certainly seems possible that fans of losing nominee Justin Bieber (or, perhaps, people who like to throw poop around the internet) may have been "vandalizing" her Wikipedia page, adding possibly-untrue facts like:

Lady Gaga Arrives at the Grammys In a Giant Egg

Adrian Chen · 02/13/11 06:08PM

Lady Gaga arrived at the Grammys tonight inside of a translucent cocoon, carried on a litter by a troupe of shirtless gogo dancers. There was absolutely nothing remarkable about this. In fact, bystanders were surprised that the usually flamboyant Lady Gaga chose to wear such a run-of-the-mill outfit on the red carpet.
