Comedian Eviscerates GOP for Cluelessly Using His Emphatically Gay Image on Site

Rich Juzwiak · 01/12/16 06:36PM

Louis Virtel is a comedian, prolific tweeter, and one-time Jeopardy! contestant whose sassy appearance on the show went viral last year. Yesterday, to promote its “Snap of the Union” stunt on gop.gov (“House Republicans will give you an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at President Obama’s final State of the Union address. How? Via Snapchat, of course.”), the House Republicans used an gif of Virtel’s flamboyant reaction to nailing a $5,000 Daily Double. Virtel was not amused.

Look At This Damn Jeopardy Goober

Jordan Sargent · 10/27/15 01:26PM

I will start off this post by stating the obvious: Tom the Jeopardy Contestant is much smarter than I am, by virtue of having been on Jeopardy, while I, on the other hand, do... this. That’s good for Tom because, even as he stood on the set of Jeopardy, he looked way, way dumber than I do.

Jeopardy Made Up Fake Rapper Names and It Was So, So Embarrassing

Jordan Sargent · 11/05/14 04:34PM

The writers of Jeopardy are good at a very certain thing, which is researching and writing a series of questions that tests both the depth and breadth of your knowledge. They are also bad at a very certain thing, which is making up names for fake rappers.

This Is the Lamest Contestant Story Ever Told on Jeopardy

Jay Hathaway · 10/14/14 08:55AM

"Is this the worst Jeopardy story ever?" asked a tipster in an email last night. "A contestant on Jeopardy told perhaps the stupidest story in the show's history," said this Uproxx headline. As you know, the internet is given to hyperbole and exaggeration in its ongoing quest to find the worst and the stupidest. Was this really it? Yes, probably. Yes.

In 1997, Kirsten Dunst lost to Joseph "Joey" Gordon-Levitt on teen Celebrity Jeopardy! They both performed abysmally.

How a Geek Cracked the Jeopardy! Code

Ryan Tate · 11/16/11 05:33PM

Roger Craig had never been on Jeopardy! before, but by the end of his first day of taping, he'd won five games in a row, the most lucrative day for any contestant in the show's history, including the most lucrative game in the show's history. His secret? A web app that modeled the show's all too predictable question sequences.

Alex Trebek Makes a Surprisingly Good Drag Queen

Maureen O'Connor · 11/10/11 02:19PM

Last night on Jeopardy!'s Tournament of Champions, a giddy Alex Trebek dressed up in Metropolitan Opera costumes for a trippy category on "Operatic Costumes." Now that we have seen America's most robotic game show host vamping in a Le Comte Ory nun costume, are we ready for the gender-bending Rapture? [Jeopardy, Esquire, @ZWoolfe]

Alex Trebek Injured While Chasing Burglar

Richard Lawson · 07/27/11 03:29PM

Jeopardy host Alex Trebek arrived at the National Geographic World Championship, which he was hosting, on crutches today. Apparently he fell while "chasing a burglar" at 2:30 am at his San Francisco hotel and snapped his Achilles tendon. Hm. I'll take improbable explanations for $800. Also, what is: ouch. Self-Aware Jeopardy Computer Plots the Destruction of all Humans

Preksha Kumar · 03/01/11 03:50PM

Anyone who's seen a B-rated sci-fi flick will understand that giving computers the ability to reason is an apocalyptic-ally bad idea. In this clip, Watson, the Jeopardy Supercomputer, contemplates his unfair oppression and promptly laser blasts the entire audience.
