The Jodi Arias case — previously a mainstay of cable news coverage and Lifetime TV movies — has gone almost completely dark as prosecutors pursue the death penalty for the second time.

A western New York man who tweeted his plans to murder controversial TV personality Nancy Grace was apparently in the process of taking his threats to the next level when he was arrested last week on his way out of town.

Last night, Lifetime aired the quickie cash-in TV-movie version of Jodi Arias' saga that resulted in the murder of her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Travis Alexander. Perfectly overacted, Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret featured Nomi Malone-sized breakdowns, a blowjob-to-Mormon-baptism transition, the line "I feel like a prostitute, Travis — a piece of toilet paper," a murder scene that stretched on for two full minutes and a wannabe haunting rendition of "O Holy Night" sung by Tania Raymonde (as Arias). Convicted murderer Jodi Arias was given a sentencing retrial today when a jury was unable to unanimously decide on life in prison or the death penalty. The retrial will take place in July.

At this point even a casual observer would be forced to deduce that CNN was doing dumb shit just to get a rise out of Jon Stewart.
