Artwalk NY: A Q&A With Peter Davis

cityfile · 08/19/09 11:19AM

Artwalk NY's Junior Committee held its summer benefit on Saturday night in support of Coalition For the Homeless. Hosted by Bettina Prentice at her home in Sagaponack, attendees at the event included Minnie Mortimer and Stephen Gaghan, Michael Musto, Liam McMullan, Dalia Oberlander, Alan Rish, Kipton Cronkite, and Lisa Salzer—each of whom chipped in $25 at the door to benefit the organization. (The $25 allows the Coalition to feed 12 homeless New Yorkers people for a day.) Cityfile correspondent Douglas Marshall caught up with writer and dapper man-about-town Peter Davis to ask him about two very unlikely things: homelessness and his brother and sister-in law, Topper and Tinsley Mortimer.

• Madonna's backup dancers haven't been making friends at the Bryant Park Hotel. Reports a staffer: "They are presumptuous and cheap. Nearly every one of them have stiffed their bellman and servers, and what's worse is they have tons of stuff." [P6]
• The situations continues to deteriorate for Lindsay Lohan: She's rumored to be pawning jewelry to pay the bills. [Star via Popcrunch]
• Britney intends to "drop by Buckingham Palace" and say hi to the Queen when she's in London, which is awfully generous of her, isn't it? [Mirror]
• The circumstances surrounding David Carradine's death are still a little murky. Suicide? Sex-related accidental death? The investigation is still underway. [People, Us, TMZ]

Liam McMullan Has Already Mastered the Sniper Neg

Sheila · 11/17/08 09:52AM

We were hoping for an epic pratfall from Page Six mag's newest columnist Liam, 20-year-old stoner son of society photog Patrick McMullan—who replaced dimwitted model/publishing heiress Lydia Hearst after she quit in a backstage drama. Sadly (for us), young Liam's "Scenester Diaries" are slightly more coherent than Lydia's, despite his daily weed intake. He's even a little funn! ("If Obama had the audacity of hope, I don't see why I shouldn't.") Young Liam also managed to get in a classic dig at Alec Baldwin, which is always appreciated:

Page Six Mag Finds Lydia Hearst Replacement

Sheila · 11/03/08 01:37PM

Now that modelheiress Lydia Hearst has quit her Pulitzer-worthy Page Six magazine column in an "I didn't write that" snafu concerning alleged criticism of her family's publishing empire, they've been on the hunt for a new—and hopefully equally vapid—kid kolumnist. Who's been chosen to top Lydia's "I just bought banana-scented scratch-and-sniff wallpaper for my kitchen" musings? Liam McMullan, boy-about-town and 20-year-old son society photog Patrick. He's apparently the godson of Village Voice gossip Michael Musto, who broke the news.Kid's supposed to be a nice guy, relatively, and he's already had an Observer profile—as he told them, “I’ve always wanted to do lots of things, like direct movies, and write things, and make art, all different types." (He then took a hit of weed.) Suggestion: Liam, just continue these stream-of-consciousness observations for Page Six and you'll do just fine:

Fashion Week Highlights: Day Five

♦ At Betsey Johnson, the front row—Kelly Osbourne, Perry Farrell, Miss J Alexander, Bow Wow, Ugly Betty's Mark Indelicato, Jason Lewis, Mickey Boardman, Lynn Yaeger, and Patrick McMullan—sat at little tables festooned with frosted cupcakes and lollipops for a Peter Pan-themed show in which Liam McMullan played a pirate "throwing gold coins at the audience and pinching the models' exposed bottoms as they walked by." Betsey did her customary finale cartwheel, showed off her granddaughter (left), and went off on vacation with her boyfriend (an Italian decades her junior, of course). The Weekend That Was

1) Bronson van Wyck and Andrew Fry (left) held a "Sunset Supper" at their house in Southampton for guests including Aby and Samantha Boardman Rosen, Peggy Siegal, Eric Villency, Fernanda Niven, Alex Kramer, and Peter Davis, who were served caviar in little lumps on their hands. According to Davis: "Caviar is the new cocaine... it's decadent and totally rehab-free!" Just think how disappointed his dealer's going to be when he catches wind of this. [Paper]

(1) The 9th annual Art For Life Benefit took place on Saturday at Russell Simmons' East Hampton house. Despite tickets not selling out as fast as usual, the event played host to Aretha Franklin, Christy Turlington, Lorraine Bracco, Soledad O'Brien, David Paterson, Diddy, Padma Lakshmi, Brett Ratner, LA Reid, the cast of Real Housewives of New York, Al Roker, Kelly Bensimon, Alina Cho, Simon de Pury, and Porschla Coleman—whose break up with Simmons, judging by their behavior, is either incredibly amicable or no longer in effect. Madonna and Guy Keep a Continent Apart

cityfile · 06/30/08 05:05AM
  • Good to know that even though Madonna and Guy Ritchie's relationship is on the rocks, their spiritual lives remain intact. Madonna spent the weekend in New York and attended the Kabbalah center in Midtown on Friday and Saturday; Guy paid a visit to the center in London. [People]

A Twee Pose In Brooklyn

Richard Lawson · 03/31/08 10:58AM

[Liam McMullan, son of photographer Patrick, parties this weekend while wearing aspiring socialite Emily Brill's sunglasses. Brill said of the party: "I thoroughly enjoy parties during which people a) actually dance and b) wear sunglasses at night and c) know that there isn't someone skulking around from Gawker or the Observer."
