Clooney Loses it, Lindsay's Life Gets Even Messier

cityfile · 05/13/09 06:20AM

• George Clooney went out to celebrate his 48th birthday last week, had too much to drink, and ended up hurling in the VIP area. Clooney denies it was him, though, and says he was just "sitting next to someone who did throw up." [NYDN]
• Cops were called to Lindsay Lohan's house yesterday after a security alarm sounded and officers initially thought the house had been ransacked. It turns out Lindsay always keeps her house that way, which means in addition to everything else, she probably could use a good housekeeper, too. [TMZ]
• Marie Douglas-David has been embroiled in a nasty divorce with her elderly husband George David. Now she has a new man. She's dating a Swedish financier named Johan Saxon, and he's only seven years older than her. [P6]

Lydia Hearst Revealed

cityfile · 05/08/09 09:40AM

Lydia Hearst appears topless in the new issue of Italian GQ. Since the pics appear in a Condé Nast mag—and not in one owned by, say, Larry Flynt—it constitutes art/fashion, and thus is not at odds with her promise not to take her clothes off when she appeared in the French edition of Playboy. But if you'd like something to spice up your day—and you're not at work where looking at nude pics may be frowned upon—here you go. [Gawker]

Model Agency Exec Disgraces His Industry

cityfile · 03/06/09 08:51AM

We cannot imagine why, but Paris authorities decided, of all the weeks in the year, to pick Fashion Week for a series of drug raids! Even more surprising, the chief executive of Elite Models' parent company Elite World, Bertrand Hennet, has been arrested for buying, possessing, and transporting cocaine. Police said that the 35-year-old "openly admitted that he had just bought £120 worth of cocaine, but consumed it before we got to him." The true mark of a dedicated junkie: When police are hammering at the door, don't throw your stash down the toilet, just snort it as quickly as possible!

Your Internship Has Been Turned Into a Publicity Stunt

cityfile · 12/17/08 11:13AM

It's never been tougher for young New Yorkers trying to break into the media business: No one is hiring, of course, and to make matters worse, you now not only have to compete with children of the rich and prominent for unpaid internships, but with actual grown-up celebrities attempting to grab a bit of cheap publicity.

An Evening with Lydia Hearst

cityfile · 11/26/08 05:51AM

Want to spend Thanksgiving Eve in the company of heiress/former Page Six magazine columnist Lydia Hearst? You're in luck! She's hosting a party tonight. And perhaps because these are lean economic times, the event is scheduled to take place at Lucky Strike, the bowling alley on West 42nd Street. You shouldn't have much trouble snagging a ticket. At least if the aggressive promotional effort on Craigslist and NorthJersey.com is any indication!

History Lessons From Lydia

cityfile · 11/25/08 01:07PM

Say what you want about Lydia Hearst, but she takes her spokesmodel duties seriously. At last night's premiere of Australia at the Zeigfeld Theater, the socialite and erstwhile columnist wore a dress that was, she told the Daily Transom, inspired by the film. But what, exactly, does a floor-length purple halter with Japanese buttons up the side have to do with Baz Luhrmann's epic about an aristocrat and a cattle herder in pre-World War II Australia? "There were actually a lot of Asian seamstresses in Australia during the pre-WWII era," said Lydia. "And you don't see dresses like this anymore." Possibly a good thing, but you be the judge.

Madonna's Reunion Rules, Robbins' Voting Mix-Up

cityfile · 11/11/08 07:06AM

♦ Guy Ritchie met up with sons David and Rocco in London yesterday for the first time since October, but only after agreeing to follow a list of rules issued by Madonna, which included no new friends, no fast food, no newspapers, and no TV. [Us, Mirror]
♦ Back in the US, Madonna supposedly threw an "intimate dinner party" at her apartment so she could introduce Alex Rodriguez to a group of her friends. [Mirror]
♦ One week after Tim Robbins experienced a few problems trying to cast his vote in the presidential election, officials now say they pinpointed the issue: Robbins turned up at the wrong polling location, which he might have known if he'd bothered to vote in the mid-term elections. [NYDN, P6]

Lydia Hearst Poses for Much-Classier French Playboy

Sheila · 11/10/08 02:36PM

As the publishing heiress wrote this summer in her now-defunct Page Six magazine column, "It’s official. I am a Playboy cover girl. But get your mind out of the gutter—it’s a different magazine altogether. I was shot for French Playboy, which is very high fashion, sits next to Vogue on French newsstands and isn’t wrapped in plastic. No nudity for me." ...as you can see from the pic. The mag's out now. But why agonize over classy vs. non-classy, nude vs. barely-nude? Girl looks good. There's no need to waffle and get defensive, even though the double standard requires it. [Daily Intel]

Lydia Hearst's Page Six Costume PWNED by Britney

Sheila · 10/31/08 12:01PM

Lydia's Halloween costume is what's killing print. The publishing heiress and model referenced her recent little scandal of quitting her "column" in Page Six magazine by dressing up as the tabloid for a party last night. Cute, Lydia—but Britney Spears wore this exact same costume years and years ago:Update: "I am Lydia's PR. don't you get it? She is being Britany !!!! that was her costume? can't you tell that they are wearing the same outfit? Duh Gawker!!!!" (When we finally get the juice to hire a PRgay, we're gonna go with one who uses periods and questions marks properly?)

Lydia Hearst: Points for Trying

cityfile · 10/31/08 08:24AM

Lydia Hearst had a little run-in with Page Six magazine earlier this week: After bashing the media conglomerate founded by her great-grandfather in her weekly column, she accused the mag of making the item up and simply slapping her byline at the top. The heiress took her revenge last night. Sort of! Proving originality isn't her strong suit, Lydia wore precisely the same get-up that Britney Spears wore after she was dissed by Page Six way back in 2003. [GoaG, Jossip]

Lydia Hearst Claims Krispy Kreme Invented In New York

Ryan Tate · 10/28/08 09:55PM

After it was revealed that she doesn't write her own column for Page Six Magazine, socialite and self-styled "Freelance Journalist" Lydia Hearst took to her Facebook to announce she would devote her "eighteen-hour days" to a "new beginning." What will this fresh new start for the model entail? She's not really sure, but it's going to be awesome, because anything can happen in New York. After all, Krispy Kreme donuts were invented here!

Lydia Gets Caught, Madonna Gets Pressured

cityfile · 10/28/08 06:02AM

♦ You didn't expect to hear that Lydia Hearst actually wrote that column in Page Six magazine by herself, did you? In response to Hearst's accusation that Page Six fabricated her latest column—the one in which she bashed her family's publishing company—the mag now says that Hearst's writing process involved being interviewed by a reporter who then "put her thoughts into cohesive paragraphs." And they have the emails to prove Lydia's trash talk. [P6]
♦ Madonna is reportedly under pressure from the leaders of Kabbalah to reach a divorce settlement quickly, lest the mess cast a negative light on their freaky cult. Guy Ritchie, however, isn't making it any easier now that he's apparently rejected Madge's latest £20 million offer. [Daily Mail, ThisIsLondon]
♦ Michael Phelps got paid $100,000 to swim around at a pool party thrown by a TV network chief's wife. [P6]
♦ It's a match made in heaven: Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Jerry Ferrara, who plays Turtle on Entourage, are dating. [R&M]

Lydia Hearst's Column Written For Her

Ryan Tate · 10/28/08 04:40AM

We were thoroughly confused yesterday by the feud that erupted between model/heiress Lydia Hearst and the Post. Why would the tabloid's gossips alter Hearst's Page Six Magazine column to make it look like she was trashing her family, then release a column preview exposing their fabrication to the world?Something seemed fishy. And indeed it was: The self-proclaimed socialite "journalist" has had her columns ghost-written all along. SHOCKER!

Lydia Hearst Steps Down

cityfile · 10/27/08 10:16AM

Heiress/self-proclaimed journalist Lydia Hearst is stepping down as a columnist for Page Six magazine. Why? She claims the column published in yesterday's issue—the one in which she criticizes her family's publishing company for throwing parties amid a recession—wasn't actually written by her. A more likely explanation: Someone explained to Lydia that it's probably not a great idea to bite the hand that feeds you (especially when it doesn't take much to be disinherited!), and suggested she backpedal as quickly as possible. [GoaG, previously]

Lydia Hearst Quits Page Six in a Snit Over Item She Didn't Write

Sheila · 10/27/08 10:07AM

Model/publishing heiress/socialite Lydia Hearst—who once proudly listed "journalist" among her occupations (presumably with a straight face)—just quit her column in Page Six Magazine. "The Hearst Chronicles" was full of zeitgeisty revelations like "I just ordered banana-scented scratch-and-sniff wallpaper for my kitchen," but the porcelain-skinned model did win points with us for slamming Hearst Publications for not canceling their Christmas party amid layoffs and a recession. But wait—Guest of a Guest reveals Lydia's resignation letter, in which she says she didn't even write the item criticizing Hearst:
