• Lyor Cohen, the man who runs Warner Music, turned Def Jam into a music powerhouse in the '90s with Russell Simmons, and now happens to be Tory Burch's boyfriend, has taken a loss on the UES co-op he owned with his ex-wife, Amy. In 2006, Cohen and his then-wife paid $7.75 million a duplex at 8 East 96th Street. The purchase came about two months before the couple called it quits and now they've finally managed to unload the place: Google executive Julio Pekarovic and Maria Vasconcelos picked up the pad for $6 million. • Susan Bloomberg, the ex-wife of Michael Bloomberg—and mother of Georgina and Emma—has put her 4,472-square-foot penthouse at One Kenmare Square in SoHo on the market. If Tory Burch is feeling the effects of the economic downturn, she certainly isn't showing it. The designer and social fixture is now petitioning Southampton's Architectural Review Board for permission to demolish the Meadow Lane home that she purchased for $22.5 million earlier this year.

This isn't the best time for a socialite to be pitching a high-end lifestyle brand. But you can't blame Tory Burch for trying to remake her image to suit the current economic climate. Burch, who is now preparing to introduce her line to British shoppers, "has created the go-to brand for affordable luxury" and is now a "portal to accessible chic," reports the Sunday Times. And she expects her line to continue to grow as hedge-fund wives "downgrade from Hermès and Halston." "We have a lot of designer customers shopping in our stores who think of us as their Gap," Burch explains. As for her high-profile split from ex-husband Chris Burch and the handful of men she's been linked to since then (including Lance Armstrong, Ron Perelman, and Lyor Cohen), don't think for a minute she's been pleased to see her name in the news:

It appears real estate mogul Richard Mack has finally taken note of Manhattan's faltering real estate market. This afternoon Corcoran's Carrie Chiang dropped the price of Mack's townhouse on East 94th Street from $59 million to a more modest $49.95 million. That's still substantially more than what he paid for the former home of Spence-Chapin: Mack picked up the 24,463-square-foot building for a mere $23 million in 2007. Then again this property comes with a view of Lyor Cohen's townhouse across the street, so maybe the occasional Russell Simmons or Tory Burch sighting will make up the difference. Now that he's reported to be dating fashion princess Tory Burch, it's not all that surprising that Lyor Cohen is the process of trading up in the Hamptons. The Warner Music CEO recently layed out $6.8 million for a place in North Haven. Unfortunately, the happy couple won't be able to stay there for a while, since Lyor's planning on tearing down the existing house to make room for an even bigger, more fashionable manse. (They'll continue staying at Lyor's Bridgehampton home in the meantime.) So what exactly does the $6.8 million teardown look like?
