Rescuers have been able to save 22 miners after a Thursday morning collapse left at least 26 trapped in a mine shaft in Bonanza, Nicaragua.

Not long ago, the pot-smoking, hot dog-hating 33 rescued Chilean miners were national heroes. And rightfully so — they spent 69 days underground, not knowing if they'd make it out alive. But on Friday, as the miners inaugurated a museum and attended mass with Chile's president, protesters greeted them with rocks and fruit, according to the AP.

The 29 New Zealand miners missing underground since an explosion last week were declared dead following a second, "massive" explosion.

A huge explosion in a Chinese coal mine killed 21 workers and left 16 trapped. Like Chile! Except, "mining accidents are so common in China that they rarely make newspaper front pages." So, way more tragic and awful.

A few hours ago, the last of 33 miners was rescued from Chile's San Jose mine. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart said what we all were thinking regarding much of the media's hyperbolic coverage of the saga. Watch inside.

Yonni Barrios just became the 21st rescued Chilean miner. There's been lots of talk about Barrios, because he has a wife and a mistress. Inside, video of Barrios greeting the latter. Update: Was it his wife?! Nope. Definitely the mistress.

The rescue of 33 trapped Chilean miners is under way, and there's lots of cheering, crying and celebrating going on at the site. The second miner to be rescued, Mario Sepulveda emerged and gave Chile's president a handful of rocks.

A drill has reached the 33 trapped Chilean miners—stuck underground since the August 5 collapse—and they could be rescued within this weekend. A NASA advisor said, "The Chileans are really writing the book on this kind of rescue."

The 33 Chilean miners trapped seven weeks ago have had a pretty tough existence, but a relief hole was drilled, allowing food and electricity to get to them. Still, they're not allowed to have booze, headphones, or even video games.

Rescuers in Chile have reached the 33 trapped miners with a new foot-wide hole that will eventually be used to rescue them. The miners got a special meal for Chile's bicentenary, but were denied their request for red wine. Lame.

The wife of one of the 33 trapped Chilean miners gave birth to a baby girl, named Esperanza, or "Hope." Ariel Ticona, the miner, had promised to be in the delivery room. His wife, Elizabeth Segovia, will probably forgive him.
