The Senate is voting on a constitutional amendment today that would reverse the 2010 Citizens United v. FEC Supreme Court decision and place restrictions on corporation's campaign finance spending, and the very idea would have a chilling effect on free speech, high-functioning maniac Ted Cruz says. Also: It could send Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels to jail!

"Congress would have the power to make it a criminal offense, Lorne Michaels could be put in jail under this amendment for making fun of any politician. That is extraordinary. It is breathtaking and it is dangerous," Cruz informed his colleagues, with visual aids, on the Senate floor yesterday.

"I grew up watching Saturday Night Live, I love Saturday Night Live. Saturday Night Live over the years has had some of the most tremendous political satire," Cruz said, before politely explaining, "Well, NBC which airs Saturday Night Live, is a corporation."

Although, and this part is not on Cruz's poster board, NBC (a corporation) did not seem to have problems with SNL being "criminal" or Lorne Michaels being thrown in jail in the years before the Citizens United decision.
