Ella Mae may only be 21 months old and not really versed in American history or fluent in the English language, but that hardly stops her from singing adorably along to Elvis Presley's popular take on Mickey Newbury's "An American Trilogy."

And dammit if this little princess doesn't give The King a run for his throne.

It's totally cute. I miss those days when my daughter used to cheer me on for the littlest things. It takes quite a bit more to impress her these days now that she's 17.

Elvis can infect your brain. Got addicted to learning about the person a few years back (through studying up some of the better-done biographies), then the music took hold. Plus, the whole meaning behind "American Trilogy" is just strong. At first listen I was like, "Oh heck no, NO DIXIELAND! - That is racist mess!" But then I found the explanation that following it with the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" (Union) and then "America the Beautiful" was actually a metaphor for national healing and unity. Then, if you get into his later music when he mainly did meaningful stuff after having his eyes opened by "If I Can Dream," well, his work was really something. He could interpret a song so beautifully. Okay, sorry. May also have been seeing pictures of the Kang from the late sixties and very early seventies. He was a fine looking specimen then.

First of all, Elvis wasn't drugged up here. Second, that is not notes on the lyrics of Polk Salad Annie. He is looking at a note a female fan slipped him that he put in his belt.
