Three Dead, Three Missing After Small Plane Crashes Into Maryland Home
Three people are confirmed dead after a small plane crashed into a home in Gaithersburg, Md. this morning; three of the people who live in the home are currently unaccounted for.
The plane, an Embraer EMB-500/Phenom 100 twin-engine jet registered to Sage Aviation in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, apparently crashed attempting to land at Montgomery County Airpark, the FAA confirmed to WJLA. The station also reports that the three missing people are a mother and her two children.
"You could tell he was struggling with the sticks. He was trying to pull up; he would gain a little elevation and then drop again," witness Tracey Everett told NBC Washington. "His wings were wobbling back and forth, very unsteadily."
After crashing in the home, the plan's explosion set two neighboring houses on fire.
