An as-yet unidentified resident of Braintree, Mass. was summoned to court after being pulled over last weekend in a police-style cruiser. A highly intelligent police officer correctly surmised that there are no police in the state who call themselves "Decepticons" and drive $100,000 Italian-crafted cruisers.

Braintree Deputy Police Chief Wayne Foster explained to the local Patriot Ledger:

Foster said the car "was made to look like a police cruiser," with the body painted black and white, a police-style shield on the doors, and decals for 911, K-9 and speed enforcement. He said the only thing the car didn't have was police-style blue lights on the top...

Foster also noted that the Maserati's police-style shield decorations said "Decepticons punish and enslave," rather than the usual police motto "protect and serve."

The law-enforcement appurtenances are illegal for civilian motorists, but bizarrely, there are no laws on the books enjoining grown men from destroying the value of their Maseratis by painting them over with geek shit based on a 1980s Japanese-produced animated kids' show and Hasbro toy franchise.

The vehicle had been getting some attention around town after Eric Clark, a local resident, tweeted and Instagrammed a pic of it about a week ago:

According to Foster, the driver told the cop who pulled him over that he was doing police a public service "because other drivers noticed him and slowed down, thinking it was a police vehicle."

It's unclear how much the motorist's transgression could cost him, but it's sure to be less than the royalties Michael Bay just made from this dumbass stunt.
