Trump Doesn't Trust a Muslim Judge to Give Him a Fair Ruling Either
Donald Trump continues to expound upon which ethnic groups should be barred from adjudicating his Trump University class-action lawsuit. The presumptive GOP nominee stands accused of defrauding students of millions of dollars in what New York’s attorney general has flatly described as a “scam.” Trump denies any wrongdoing.
In a CBS News “Face the Nation” interview that aired Sunday, host John Dickerson asked Trump if he thought a Muslim judge would be biased against him.
“It’s possible, yes, yeah,” Trump replied. “That would be possible, absolutely.” Well, what else did you expect?
Trump has called for a ban on all Muslims from entering the United States.
Dickerson responded with an invocation of common decency and American folklore: “Isn’t there sort of a tradition through in America that we don’t judge people by who their parents were and where they come from?”
“I’m not talking about tradition—I’m talking about common sense, OK?”
Trump repeated his assertion that U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, currently presiding over the Trump University case, is biased against him because he is “very strongly pro-Mexican” and should therefor recuse himself from the case.
“I’m going to build a wall. I’m going to build a wall,” Trump exclaimed, a line he’s previously used regarding his suspicion of Curiel’s “Mexican heritage.”
Trump is not only a shameless racist, he’s also using this despicable logic to try to convince the public that the case against him has no merit. “He’s not treating me fairly,” Trump whined, referring to Curiel. “I’ve had numerous lawyers, I have a case where thousands of people have said it’s a great school.”
Hundreds of pages of documents from the lawsuit that were unsealed on Tuesday indicate otherwise.
Some of the most damning testimony came from Ronald Schnackenberg, a former salesman for Trump University, who stated in an affidavit, “while Trump University claimed it wanted to help consumers make money in real estate, in fact Trump University was only interested in selling every person the most expensive seminars they possibly could.”
