Over the past few days, a U.S. Defense Department laboratory in Utah “inadvertently” mailed live Anthrax samples to a commercial lab. The location of the lab has not been released, though samples of the deadly bacteria were sent to facilities in nine states, including New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.

CNN and the BBC report that all of the samples are now being tested. From the BBC:

The government has confirmed one shipment actually had live spores, and the eight others might, too.

The live spores were shipped from Utah to labs in Texas, Maryland, Wisconsin, Delaware, New Jersey, Tennessee, New York, California and Virginia.

So far, no illnesses have been reported.
