Unruly Passenger Kicked Off Plane for Refusing to Turn Off Cellphone
A belligerent US Airways passenger had to be escorted off the plane by sheriff's deputies after she responded with hostility to a flight attendant's repeated requests to stop talking on her phone.
The Charlotte-bound flight was in the process of taxiing down the runway in Ft. Lauderdale when Lindsay Bien-Aime was asked to turn off her phone.
She ignored several requests, prompting the crew to alert the pilot, who had no choice but to turn the plane around.
The flight was delayed 30 additional minutes as deputies boarded the plane to remove Bien-Aime.
In cellphone footage captured by another passenger, the Miramar resident can be seen becoming increasingly irate and yelling profanities at the deputies.
The exchange eventually turned violent as Bien-Aime attempted to break loose by kicking a female deputy in the groin, and elbowing a second deputy in the the mouth.
The 21-year-old was subsequently booked on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting an officer with violence and two counts of battery on an officer.
She was later released on a $2,525 bond.
