Ah, Zimmerman appears to be channeling his ideological cousins Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin by so nakedly exploiting the Troll/Liberal Outrage industrial complex.
He engages in stunts that are needlessly provocative and hurtful to the left, gins up outrage, then plays literal-minded victim ("I was found not guilty, and yet the liberal media tells me I can't take a Sunday to visit a local gun manufacture? When will the abuse end?").
Cue Fox News. Cue MSNBC. Cue HuffPo and Drudge. Cue everyone and their goddamn opinion. Zimmerman stays relevant, parlays it into a $40K a pop speaking gig or guest column on RedState.com and so it goes. Successful troll is successful.

Also, as a rule, if Sarah Palin is smart enough to build a multimillion dollar empire off a tactic, it means a properly trained rodent could pull it off.

This doesn't really seem like the phrasing someone on your own team would be using. It would have been sufficient to just leave that last clause off. This is a professional spokesperson making a point.

He's just pointing out what an excellent marksman his client is.
What does spokesman mean in this context? Is it someone in the firm or someone who is a PR person? I mean this guy could be fairly removed from the actual practice of defending Zimmerman and his lawyer probably very very much wants to distance himself from him at this point.
