Welcome to the Suntan Party, Seal
As the weather in New York begins to brighten up—the sun is out (kind of), the flowers are blooming, the temperature has begun to rise, slowly—humans are not the only ones who want a piece of that sweet, sweet suntan action. This seal, par exemple, spotted on a dock in Inwood Hill Park on Monday, needs to get a base, too!

DNAinfo reports that the seal appeared on the dock of the Spuyten Duyvil Creek near Columbia University on Monday and managed to charm the 25 or so onlookers who were simultaneously enjoying the sun. Inwood resident Bruce Katz took photos of the sunbathing seal, who seemed to be really enjoying his chill sitch:
Police and Animal Care and Control of New York responded to check on the animal, but it eventually swam away toward the Hudson River, said Inwood resident Bruce Katz, who took photos of the seal.
“It looked to me like it really just wanted to sit on the dock and enjoy the day,” Katz said.
Summer's coming.
