What It's Like To Be a Stand-Up Comedian with Muscular Dystrophy
Above is the inaugural episode of Rare Lives, Gawker’s new interview series. So many people outside of the public eye have vivid, entertaining stories to tell, and I’m especially interested in those that include elements that are still underrepresented in media: special needs, sexuality, gender identity, unique jobs, etc. As in life, my goal here is to have interesting conversations.
Our first subject is Steve Way, a standup comedian with muscular dystrophy. Steve was extremely candid about his life, particularly dating and sex, which I found completely admirable and fascinating. I hope you do, too.
If you or someone you know wants to tell their story on Rare Lives and lives in or around New York, please email me directly: rich@gawker.com.
